Individualized claims help

Use a VA-accredited representative when representation or advice is needed.

VA accreditation exists to protect claimants. Verify a representative in VA’s official directory before sharing sensitive information or agreeing to fees.

Who may be accredited?

VA accredits qualified Veterans Service Organization representatives, claims agents, and attorneys. Their permitted services and fee rules differ. Ask the representative to explain scope, fees, and any agreement before you sign.

How to verify help

  1. Search the official VA accreditation directory.
  2. Confirm the person’s name, organization, and current accreditation status.
  3. Ask who will handle your information and how it will be protected.
  4. Never share a VA.gov, Login.gov, or ID.me password or one-time code.
  5. Keep copies of forms and agreements.
